On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, we want to celebrate the tremendous efforts that have been dedicated to achieving an equal future in the world of work.

Still, a lot needs to be done.

Covid-19 Pandemic has negatively affected women’s working life in different ways worldwide. During the Pandemic, most healthcare workers were females, and their exposure to the Corona Virus was higher than males. The burden of home care for women has increased during the Pandemic. Similarly, gender inequalities during the Pandemic have increased because of the absence of women in decision-making positions. Their voices and ideas are not majorly included in the policies.

There are plenty of ways for shaping the equal future of women in work

We believe that educating and outreaching local communities through awareness-raising and capacity building contributes to women’s empowerment in many fields of work. The project ‘Learn Abroad to do Better at home for Gender Equality (LAB 4 GE)’, with the participation of 6 other organizations from all over Europe, aims to empower women entrepreneurship. In this project, we raise awareness in our communities on gender-based inequalities related to entrepreneurship and provide education for those who want to work for empowering women as entrepreneurs. 

And what else? What can NGOs do? What do you do locally to support women, policy and the culture of work? 

• Advocate for equal pay, equal representation of women in decision-making positions
• Support and elect women in leadership positions 
• Fights against sexual harassment and violence at workplaces
• Encourage parents and couples to share domestic and care-work at home equally
• Raising awareness among educators, youth on gender bias, stereotypes 
• Amplify the voice of women leaders and experts on global issues 
• Find ways to support girls, young woman and woman in STEM fields
• Give voice to research on women related issues
• Share stories of women, use your platform, media
• Support women’s rights organizations
• Educate on gender equality 
• Empower the next generation of women 
• …

L’Europa è considerata una delle regioni più avanzate a livello mondiale per quanto riguarda l’uguaglianza di genere. Negli ultimi 100 anni, le donne hanno guadagnato il diritto di lavorare e di votare.

Tuttavia, molte lacune devono essere colmate quando si tratta di violenza di genere, parità di retribuzione e presenza di donne in posizioni di responsabilità.

Su questi aspetti, le statistiche ci dicono che una donna su tre nell’UE ha subito violenza fisica e/o sessuale. Inoltre, anche se le donne sono la maggioranza delle persone con laurea, guadagnano in media il 16% in meno degli uomini e solo l’8% degli amministratori delegati delle più grandi aziende in Europa sono donne.

Questi dati mostrano che è necessario uno slancio per questo processo, altrimenti ci vorrà più di un secolo per raggiungere l’uguaglianza di genere.

Per affrontare questo problema, la Commissione Europea, attraverso la Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, ha definito le azioni chiave per i prossimi 5 anni in maniera da assicurare una prospettiva di parità in tutte le aree politiche dell’Unione.

Il progetto di partenariato strategico Erasmus+ “Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home for Gender Equality” (LAB4GE) mira a rappresentare un contributo della società civile a questo scopo.

Partner di sei paesi europei (Ungheria, Danimarca, Italia, Regno Unito, Romania e Spagna) lavoreranno insieme, attraverso la condivisione di metodologie e buone pratiche, attraverso il rafforzamento di alleanze a livello regionale, nazionale ed europeo con entità che lottano contro le disuguaglianze di genere, per rafforzare la consapevolezza dell’importanza di garantire pari opportunità al fine di costruire una società più giusta e prospera per tutti. 

Durante i 32 mesi in cui il progetto è articolato, le 4 visite partecipative e il corso di formazione internazionale offriranno occasione per approfondire la tematica, sviluppare conoscenze, abilità e competenze più ampie sulla tematica, per favorire lo sviluppo sociale e migliorare le performance imprenditoriali femminili in Europa.

“Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home for Gender Equality”

Europe is considered to be one of the most advanced regions in the world with regard to gender equality. Over the past 100 years, women have earned the right to work and vote.

However, many gaps need to be filled when it comes to gender-based violence, the gender pay gap and the presence of women in positions of responsibility. On these aspects, statistics tell us that one in three women in the EU has been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence. Even though women are the majority among graduates, they earn on average 16% less than men and only 8% of the CEOs of the largest companies in the EU are women. 

These data show that momentum is needed for this process, otherwise it will take more than a century to achieve gender equality. To address this problem, the European Commission, through the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, has defined the key actions for the next 5 years that ensure a perspective of equality in all EU policy areas. 

The Erasmus + strategic partnership project “Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home for Gender Equality” (LAB4GE) aims to represent a contribution from civil society to this goal. 

Partners from six European countries (Hungary, Denmark, Italy, United Kingdom, Romania and Spain) will work together, through the sharing of methodologies and best practices, through the strengthen of alliances at the regional, national and European levels with entities that fight against gender inequality, for reinforcing the awareness of the importance to guarantee equal opportunities in order to build a fairer and more prosperous society for all.

During the 32-month duration of the project, the 4 participatory visits and the international training course will offer opportunities to deepen the topic, develop wider knowledge, skills and competences to foster social development and improve female entrepreneurial performances in Europe.

Most international or global days are celebrated to create awareness and educate the community about topics of concern that needs global attention.

International days are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity on a global and national scale.

Today is the International Social Justice Day. We wanted to point out how much is related social justice with gender equality. Without Gender Equality there is no Social Justice and No Social Justice means No Human Rights.

The Index Report 2019 of Social Justice in the EU and OECD in a nutshell says:

“With the onset of the economic and financial crisis, social justice has deteriorated – on average – in the OECD and EU countries surveyed by the SJI.1 While the Social Justice Index shows a slight but ongoing upward trend since economic recovery began in 2014, the overall score remains below the pre-crisis level. In addition, there are still striking discrepancies with regard to available opportunities to participate in society in the 41 countries surveyed.”

Scambio europeo Erasmus+ in Spagna

“FOR ART’S SAKE 2017”

Youth Exchange KA1 – Erasmus+ Program

MALAGA – SPAGNA *** 24 GIUGNO – 1° LUGLIO 2017

This Youth Exchange combines the activities of intercultural connection with art appreciation.

The intention is to create a critical and independent thinking resulting in new forms of expression and that in turn make seeing the way in which art is one of the cornerstones for Europe.

The combination of leisure and non­formal teaching activities will ensure an experience for participants that will find fun while developing their interest in art and learn from this. This will foster friendships beyond borders, intercultural contact and improved use of foreigner language.

Participants will have the opportunity to reside and explore the city of one of the most influential people in Spanish history, Pablo Picasso, also they will appreciate his work in person as well as many other authors from all periods, from ancient Rome to even the most contemporary art.

L’Associazione SUD ricerca:

• Età superiore ai 18 anni
• Conoscenza della lingua inglese, scritta e parlata (livello B1)
• Giovani alla prima esperienza di scambio Erasmus+

Workshop “Entrepreneurial Knowledgebase”- Evento nazionale

Si terrà a Roma, il prossimo 17 novembre dalle ore 10.30 alle ore 13.30,  la terza tappa del progetto “Entrepreneurial Knowledgebase” finanziato dalla Commissione Europea – Programma Erasmus+ KA2,  capofila CEUD-Serbia, in partenariato con Italia (Associazione SUD), Bulgaria, Slovacchia, Ungheria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Turchia, Regno Unito.

Saremo ospitati nella prestigiosa sede della Società Geografica Italiana (Villa Celimontana – via di Navicella) e nel quadro della manifestazione internazionale “All routes lead to Rome“.

L’incontro sarà occasione di:

• presentazione dei risultati delle precedenti tappe internazionali del progetto durante le quali è stato realizzato un Training Course (12-19 maggio) e uno Youth Exchange (19-27 ottobre) in due località della Serbia;
• confronto con i partecipanti per la definizione di possibili percorsi progettuali a sostegno della creazione di impresa da parte di giovani, con particolare riferimento alla sostenibilità ambientale, sociale, economica in aree urbane e rurali marginali.

L’iniziativa s’inserisce nella “Global entrepreneurship week” (14-20 Novembre), evento internazionale che coinvolge oltre 160 Paesi del mondo a sostegno dello spirito imprenditoriale dei giovani attraverso la realizzazione di molteplici workshop, incontri, attività di mentorship e per la creazione di network internazionali.

The Europe 2020 strategy recognizes entrepreneurship and self-employment as key to achieving smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

It has been pointed more than ever that the key factor of EU economy’s competitiveness is entrepreneurial skills of the workforce. Entrepreneurship is not just about starting your own business but goes much wider.

The EU’s Key Competence Framework defines entrepreneurship as ”…the ability to turn ideas into action. It involves creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives. The individual is aware of the context of his/her work and is able to seize opportunities that arise.”

The main objective of this Youth Exchange is to develop sense of entrepreneurship and creative thinking and supply young participants with a concrete skill that could serves as a base for developing creativity and pursuing further venture projects. This will be achieved through a variety of workshops that will challenge both the mind and the hands.

InfoDay e Training Day Erasmus+

Bari, 12 aprile 2016

L’Associazione SUD ha partecipato al Seminario realizzato dall’Università di Bari Aldo Moro con la collaborazione della Cooperativa Sinergia di Bitonto e in cooperazione con l’Agenzia Nazionale ISFOL e la rete nazionale italiana Eurodesk.

Il Training Day ha approfondito gli aspetti principali della progettazione nell’ambito del programma europeo Erasmus+: Istruzione e Formazione Professionale.

Una giornata molto intensa e fruttuosa, ricca di stimoli per nuovi progetti da sviluppare nel prossimo futuro.

TAPE – Tolerance Amour Paix Echange – Erasmus+ Youth Exchange

Le programme Euro-Med jeunesse IV encourage la lutte contre le racisme et la xénophobie sans oublier la participation active des jeunes au développement de la société. Notre action mettra en valeur ces deux axes à travers les différentes activités et avec la participation de touts les intervenants.

Notre action se base essentiellement sur l’interculturalité comme outil de rapprochement entre les peuples et pour conséquent comme outil de paix et de tolérance d’où une multiple activités favorisant l’apprentissage inter culturel basant sur la méthode non formel en suivant les activités prévu.

Les jeunes essayeront de meubler cinq volets d’activités:

• Conférences
• Trois ateliers (composition musicale; danse et théâtre; multimédia)
• Visites et débats
• Une journée d’activité collective avec les jeunes de la société civile local
• Foire aux initiatives
